Rule # Description Status
(Sec 6.5) Original factory installed ignition system may not be altered in any manner. However, teams are permitted to substitute factory-installed spark plugs with any brand of choice. (Sec 6.5) Pass
(Sec 6.6) The 16-pin electrical connector on the engine must remain as installed from the factory. Part numbers for the mating connector are found in the engine application guide. (Sec 6.6) Pass
(Sec 7.16) All connections are to be made with voltage and amperage appropriate connectors (Sec 7.16) Pass
(Sec 7.16.1) Soldering and welding are not considered adequate connection methods (Sec 7.16.1) Pass
(Sec 7.17) All circuits must contain adequate circuit protection in the form of a breaker or fuse (Sec 7.17) Pass
(Sec 7.18.1) All insulating material must be rated for at least 85° C. This includes cable insulation and connection coverings (Sec 7.18.1) Pass
(Sec 7.18.2) All connection covers must be secured in place (Sec 7.18.2) Pass
(Sec 7.18.3) Insulation material that is rated for the maximum voltage must be used. Using only insulating tape or rubber-like paint for insulation is prohibited. (Sec 7.18.3) Pass
(Sec 7.18.4) There should be no conductive element in the high current path that can be inadvertently contacted (Sec 7.18.4) Pass
(Sec 7.19) All wiring must be completed to professional standards with appropriately sized conductors and terminals and with adequate strain relief and protection from loosening due to vibration etc (Sec 7.19) Pass
(Sec 7.19.1) Wiring must be located out of the way of possible snagging or damage. (Sec 7.19.1) Pass
(Sec 7.20) All electrical connections, including bolts, nuts, and other fasteners, in the high current path of the electrical system must be secured from unintentional loosening. Fasteners must use positive locking mechanisms. (Sec 7.20) Pass
(Sec 7.20.1) Acceptable positive locking mechanisms: (Sec 7.20.1) Pass
(Sec 7.20.1.1) Correctly installed safety wiring. (Sec 7.20.1.1) Pass
(Sec 7.20.1.2) Cotter pins. (Sec 7.20.1.2) Pass
(Sec 7.20.1.3) Nylon lock nuts (Sec 7.20.1.3) Pass
(Sec 7.20.1.4) Prevailing torque lock nuts (Sec 7.20.1.4) Pass
(Sec 7.20.1.5) Locking plates or tab washers (Sec 7.20.1.5) Pass
(Sec 7.20.1.6) Belleville or spring washers (Sec 7.20.1.6) Pass
(Sec 7.20.2) A split lock washer is not considered an adequate positive locking feature (Sec 7.20.2) Pass
(Sec 7.21) If the material of the motor housing, generator housing, controller housing, or external heat sink is conductive then it must have a low resistance connection to ground (less than 300 mΩ measured at 1A) and must be able to to continuously carry at least 10% of the main fuse current rating (Sec 7.21) Pass
